I created this service and named it after my father-in-law, Ken Virtue, who saw his wife Louise through an extended illness with strength, courage, and complete devotion. Ken made Louise’s life very special in her final years and was an amazing caregiver who took on every aspect of her care — from feeding to cleaning to haircuts and everything else.
While he was taking care of his wife, Ken asked that we start a daily check-in by text, so that if anything happened to him, we would know the same day and could go check on Louise.
After Louise passed away, Ken continued checking in every evening at 5:30, and continues to this day. Here is an actual screenshot from my phone, showing our check-ins. Normally it’s an “AOK” sent by Ken, followed by a “Thanks Dad” from me.
